Buried in the metal tombs
of my hard drive
I recovered
remnants of HER.
One bored high school artist,
two years,
four portraits
of varying (if any) beauty –
and a progression
of myself.

Enjoy.

These drawings are based on photos either found somewhere online or taken by me and are mostly unfinished.

It’s been a long time since I’ve drawn anything.  Growing up, I used to draw all the time, but very little has been saved over the years in analog or digital form.  In fact, my most prized drawing — a charcoal still life I did in college — was never returned to me after it was submitted to an art show.  But hopefully you can get an idea from these drawings how my skills (or lack thereof) have progressed.  I’ve certainly gotten a lot better at drawing hair, at least….

Other than my novel, my latest project is a series of sprite drawings for my friend Jason’s video game.  And thanks to my friend Chris, who’s writing a series of reflections, I’m inspired to start a new art series while I’ve got all my art supplies lying around.

And yes, I’m also still working on my next photo dump post of all the pics I’ve taken in Korea since my last update.  So, so many….

Now, I’d like to accept an award given to me today by H. N. Sieverding:

  1. Sandra says:

Well thanks so much Gally. You made my day. I have been sitting here this evening trying to finish my Ghost Boarder (short story) and everything went wrong. The story wasn’t flowing, I couldn’t find the right photos. Just a bad night so your award cheered me up immensely. I will follow your five rules this weekend. Keep up your good work, you are an inspiration.

  2. slpmartin says:

Thanks you so much….glad you have your art materials out again. Cheers!

  3. thysleroux says:

These drawings are great! I love the 7th one from the top the most.

(Gally, could you drop me a mail at thysleroux1@gmail.com?)

  4. Chris G. says:

Damn! If that’s what you draw just when you’re bored, you should certainly get back to it, Gally. Those look like they were coming along nicely – would be a wonder to see some finished products of yours in that regard. Congrats on keeping yourself busy, too – hope all’s well!
